As the nights are slowly getting shorter were all eager to bring a bit of colour to our homes and as always largom.com has endeavoured to find this seasons home trends.
Colour !
In the inevitable gloom that surrounds us post Christmas we were on the lookout for something bright and clever and came across the ‘fold lamp’ in a classic 50’s lemon colour. Designed by young British based designer Alexander Taylor the lamp is manufactured by Established and Sons and is available in three other zingy colours from icone.co.uk.
Brighten up a bedroom or study with a chair from Norwegian designer Katherine. Available as one off pieces from Precious-no, you can easily add a bit off bubble-pop to your lo-fi design ethic …. Or something like that.
As a quick fix for the winter blues have a look at the round pillow by Kragh Rosenburg. Available from huset-shop.com. Finally on the colour front if your home style is understated but you enjoy a splash here and there try the Forest green glassware collection from ilio.eu.
Shine
If your under twenty four, unashamedly bold, run a 50’s vegas style caberet lounge or are indeed from outer space you might just like to bring a bit of shimmer where its needed most. Update your home with shimmering metalics, soft silks and lurex (whatever that is).
Marcel Wanders Stone Stool is pretty bright so use with care, as a centrepiece to a bright room or a statement for the kitchen its available from icone.co.uk. For the bedroom try a silver poof from soukshop.com, being filled with natural straw the piece has the added advantage of being easily topped up and finally to complete the metallic look there’s the Lilly dressing table. Available from angelaadams.co.uk it’s a clever piece with a stunning finish.
Feminine
With the oh-so-cosy winter nights coming to an end a bit of over the top femininity wouldn’t hurt here and there. Try the Copenhagen 69 lampshade ( available in 69 pieces and assembled without the use of tools ).
Obviously, I might be wrong on the whole feminine approach (it happens occasionally), so if he dumps you, or you dump her, for turning your designer penthouse pad into something resembling the interior of Dot Cottons Lounge, please feel free to say I was wrong on this one and find a cushion to sob into (try the Lumbar from Ikea).
