February 12, 2009
The world's largest trade fair for Nordic design took place at Stockholm International Fairs from 4-8 February. Some 750 exhibitors from 21 countries displayed the latest products within furniture, lighting and textiles for both the home and public environment.
This year was the 57th that the Stockholm Furniture Fair has been organised. "We're extremely happy that the fair is fully booked and that there's such a high level of interest from our exhibitors." says Cecilia Nyberg, Project Manager of the Stockholm Furniture Fair. This year's exhibition had almost 170 new exhibitors, including Italian Moroso, Himolla from Germany, Theca from Denmark and Swedish lighting company Zero.
Stockholm Design Week also took place alongside with some fifty different events at various venues around town. This year's Guest of Honour was Ineke Hans from the Netherlands who created a relaxation lounge at the entrance square. It comprised of two parts; one with an indoor feel, and another with an outdoor feel. This has been he sixth year in a row that a top international guest has been invited to design a lounge at Stockholm Furniture Fair and Northern Light Fair.
In Greenhouse, the hall for independent designers and design schools, TAF Arkitektkontor created a set resembling photographic backdrops. The focus is on highlighting the exhibitors and their products. TAF is run by Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Ståhlbom.
Design star Jens Fager is the man behind the design of Stockholm International Fairs' Press Room. The theme was Embrace, encompassing reflection and calm.
Interior décor stylist Lotta Agaton was responsible for My shop, a combined lighting and furniture exhibition aimed at providing retailers with inspiration, knowledge and practical tips on how they can develop their store concept but our favorite design was the pink fracture seat for Capellini. Check it out along with other images from the exhibition in the gallery above.
