Taking Care of your garden furniture

Taking Care of your garden furniture

November 9, 2008

Well there is no doubt that winter is well and truly here but while our summer memories of sangria and picnics in the park are long gone, what happened to our garden furniture?

If your like me, you’ll have left it on the patio swearing blind that it was going into the shed this Sunday but somehow it never goes in. So now it’s time to grab the bull by the horns and find out what else (apart from storing in the shed) we can do to insure that next summer is as good as this one!

I’ve been out working hard this week putting together Largoms top tips to keep your furniture in top shape through the winter months.

1.    If you’ve splashed out on hard wood furniture a teak oil will offer the best protection although if your furniture is old you’ll need to use a wood restorer before you oil.

2.    Plastic Furniture is very hard wearing so  all it will need is a good clean at the end of the season-a little hot water and soap is the most effective way of removing grim and stains.

3.    If you’ve gone for the metal option a coat of hammerite should see it right during the winter months .

4.    All cushions and throws can be cleaned with a good upholstery shampoo and should be stored indoors during the winter.
